  There's One In Every Congregation

  An elder in another hall turns up every Sunday with a spare white shirt - in case the visiting speaker turns up wearing any other colored shirt, in which case he demands the speaker to put on the new shirt!

  Ironically, heard this of a congregation where they had white shirts in various sizes, ready in case a guest speaker showed up with another color or design...until the District Overseer showed up in a Blue shirt and was told to change by the COBE. Needless to say, the DO didn't budge and the White shirts disappeared after that.

  JW TV, this month about evolution

  this month the last segment is about evolution.

  one is with a sister with a university education in biochemistry who (presumably) teaches at a highschool or public school.

  she says that left handedness of amino acids indicates life was created because "if it was a random process half would be right handed and half left handed" (paraphrased).

  Is shunning unscriptual?

  international version 1 cor 5:11. but now i am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler.

  do not even eat with such people.. if shunning is wrong.

  .how does one explain this scripture?.

  i don't really engage in doctrinal discussions about jw's anymore.

  they seem to say some pretty crazy stuff.

  but i have read some threads discussing doctrinal changes and how watchtower is really out of ideas and money at the same time.

  the cover of the 2016 september watchtower has an islander couple preaching.

  the brother looks like he may be fijian in a traditional skirt standing in a river, doing a presentation on an apple ipad.

  i can't imagine there are many families that can afford an ipad in the pacific islands.

  That was my first observation to the cover as well. Unrealistic!

  What also surprises me to some extent is the push/acceptance for Apple. After all Tim Cook, is the only openly Gay CEO of a Fortune 500 company. You would think that Apple products therefor could not be used by "True Christians" as they may lead to becoming homosexual or be demon-possessed.

  Old Relative Not Happy About Push To Use Ipads Etc

  i was in a close relatives house yesterday and she was having angry and resentful at the push to use electronic devices at the meetings.

  she was talking to another relative of mine who has just got an ipad to use.

  this relative of mine is very elderly and obviously prefers to use her bible and other books.

  My mid-80 year old (45 years a JW) mother has been spoken to by the elders why she continues to use the paper literature, rather than an iPad. Crazy!
